Goldie E. Whallon, 85, of Springfield, formerly of Eaton, died Tuesday
morning, Oct. 9, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Born Sept. 5, 1916, in McIntire, Iowa, she was the daughter
of the late Carl and Clara (Beal) Shupe. She was a 29-year member of the First Baptist
Church in New Paris, and a three-year member of Lower Valley First Baptist
Church in Springfield. In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death on May 30, 1970, by her husband, Ralph C. Whallon, whom she married Feb.
27, 1938; a daughter, Marlene (Norman) Dearth; a son, Robert Whallon; a
granddaughter, Jodi Ferguson; and sisters, Vivian Wyles-Moore
and Dorothy (Gordon) Brandt.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Tom McQuaid of Springfield, Janet and Frank Ferguson of Bowling
Green, Ky.; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Jane Whallon of Chandler,
Ariz., Donald and Peggy Whallon of Tempe, Ariz., Jack and Ruth Whallon of New
Richmond, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law,
Judy Whallon of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Harold Verlee
Shupe of Harlan, Iowa. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 13, at
Barnes Funeral Home-Preble Memory Gardens Chapel, West Alexandria, with Pastor
Dale Stumbo and the Rev. Clyde Raby
officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria
