Mrs. Ida Mae Baker, 84, died unexpectedly at 9:15 Monday
evening at her home 203 East Second
street. Mrs. Baker, who had been in failing health, had not been
seriously ill and was up and around her home Monday. She was born June 23, 1876, at Browning, the
daughter of Martin and Sarah (Davis) Swihart. She came to Livingston County
with her parents when a small child and
spent the remainder of her life here. On Dec 5, 1894 she married William V.
Baker in Chillicothe. Mr. Baker died September 1951. She is survived by seven sons, William E.
Baker, Lloyd M. Baker, Vernon A. Baker and Nathan E. Baker, Chillicothe; Elmer
K. Baker, Larned Kan; Ernie A. Baker, Dixon, Ill., and Louis L. Baker,
Frederick, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Goldie Bennett, Topeka Kan and Miss Alice
Baker, Kansas City, a brother, Joshua Swihart, Meadville; two sisters, Mrs.
Susie J. Tarboss, Cassopolis, Mich., and Mrs. Ella Reeves, Chillicothe. She
also leaves 23 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her
parents, three children and five brothers and her husband. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock
Thursday afternoon at the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home. Burial will be in
the Utica Cemetery. Chillicothe Constitution
