JAKE ASH SUCCUMBS TO

MONTH’S ILLNESS

 

 

Jake Ash, aged 89 years, 10 months and 3 days, died at the home of his grandson, C. L. Ash, Wednesday morning at 8:40 o’clock, after a month’s illness, flu and general debilities were said to be the cause of his death.

 

Mr. Ash was born in Tennessee but came to Arkansas and settled near the Missouri line when a small child. He later moved to Mundell in this county where he resided until about 16 years ago, when he moved to Cedarville, Van Buren county Arkansas, and a little more than three years ago, moved to Berryville where he lived until his death.

 

He was first married to Miss Nellie Henry, who preceeded him in death 24 years, and to this union eight children were born, two daughters and six sons, the sons all survive, they are Allen and Hugh Ash of Mundell; BT and Millard of Eureka Springs; Jack of Pittsburg, Kansas and George who’s address is not known.

 

In 1905 he was married to Mrs. Jennie Ponds and they were the parents of one children, Mrs. Mildred Chasteen, of Fort Smith.

 

Besides the seven children, the deceased is survived by his wife, who is blind and a number of grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

 

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Union Chapel cemetery, near Mundell, where the remains will be laid to rest.
