Lester R. Swihart


Lester Ray Swihart, 73, of Carrollton, Mo., formerly of Independence, died Oct. 28, 1994 at Research Medical Center.  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Gibson-Rice Chapel, Carrollton; burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.  Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel.  The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.  Mr. Swihart was born in  Independence and moved to Carrollton 15 years ago.  He was a retired carpenter.  He was a member of the Carpenters union and the American Legion.  He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Mary Swihart of the home; a stepdaughter, Lois Kneller, Lowrey City, Mo.;  a brother Leo F. Swihart, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
