Loren Cletus Swihart

 

 

Loren Cletus Swihart, 35 year old Chillicothe resident , died Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. at Ellis Fischel hospital in Columbia. He resided at 704 Williams.  He was born April 16, 1945 in Chicago, Ill., son of Loren A and Elsie Ash Swihart. Part of his childhood was spent in the Fountain Grove and Brookfield Areas.  He was married to Selma Fay Sue Brecher, at Linneus.  Mr. Swihart owned and operated a military surplus business in the late 1960's in Chicago. He and his wife resided in Western Europe during the early 1970's where they manufactured ornamental military objects.  When they returned to the United States they made their home at Comanche, Okla., where he was president of a military surplus business from 1979 and he resumed his residency in Missouri when he and his wife formed a partnership named Alliance International Company dealing with U. S. military clothing and antiques.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge.  Survivors include wife, Sue, of the home; father, Loren A. Swihart, Chillicothe; four children, Jane Sally Swihart of the home, Andrew Swihart, Diane Swihart and Susan Swihart all of Chicago; great grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Swihart, Chillicothe.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Ash Swihart Dean, formerly of Brookfield.  Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Meadville cemetery with Dr. Earl Griffith officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Norman-Wagy Funeral Home.  The body will lie in state after 5 p.m. Friday and the family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 8 o'clock at the funeral home. They suggest memorial contributions may be made to Ellis-Fischel Hospital, Columbia.
