Robert A. Davis

 

Berrien Springs, March 25 –Robert A. Davis, 70, formerly from here, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday  at the Barrett rest home west of Buchanan.

 

He had been a well known resident of his area for the past 48 years, and had been in family health for seven years. He was a patient at the rest home for two and one-half years.

 

Mr. Davis was born on Feb.10, 1888 in Buchanan, the son of Benjamin and Jossie Davis.  On November 12, 1911 he married Ella J. Simpson in Berrien Springs.  She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 1951.

 

Mr. Davis was employed at the Journal-Era, this village’s weekly newspaper, for many years, and at one time worked for the Clark Equipment company when they had a division here.

 

He was a member of the Evangelical and United Brethren church here and served as a secretary of the Sunday school and as secretary of the church board.  He waas also a member of the Maccabees lodge here.

 

Surviving are two sons, Orville of Berrien Springs and Paul of LaMesa, Calif, three grandsons, his mother, of Buchanansister, Mrs. Bessie Reinke, Buchanan, and a nephew.

 

Funeral services will be held at the EUB church Thursday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Norman C. Crotser, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Long Lake Cemetery.

 

Friends may call at the Griner Funeral Home until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, at which time the body will be taken to the church until the hour of service.
