Robert Claude Weitzel

 

Memorial services for Robert Claude "Bob" Weitzel will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 8.  Services will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church of Florence with Pastors Gary Williams and Richard Van Syoc officiating.

 

Mr. Weitzel, late of Canon City, died October 3rd in Canon City.

 

The son of William Howard and Dicy Mae (Sweihart) Weitzel, he was born Aug. 9, 1933 in Fountain Grove MO.  He was 65.

 

He was a truck driver until poor health forced him to give up driving.  He enjoyed woodworking. He loved his family and friends.

 

Mr. Weitzel as a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Florence.  He was also a member of the Royal Gorge Federation of the Blind.

 

He married Marietta Baxter on Nov. 16, 1952 at Princeton, MO. She survives.

 

Also surviving are children Robert Richard (Anna Louise) Weitzel of Brookfield, MO, Deborah Lynn (William Dale) Frizzell of Garden City, KS, and Charles William (Ann Catherine) Weitzel of Phoenix, AZ.

 

Other survivors include seven grandsons, four granddaughters, two great grandsons and a great granddaughter.

 

Also surviving are his mother, sisters, Dorothy (Marshall) Cordray of Chula, MO, Francis (Daniel) Coberley of Brookside, Gladys (Dale) Fisher of Chillicothe, MO, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

 

Mr. Weitzel was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2450 Downing, Denver CO 80210-5846 or to the National Federation of the Blind, 122 N. Maine, Suite 205, Pueblo, CO 81003.

 

Wilson-Andrews Funeral Home of Canon City was in charge of arrangements.
